SETON HALL HOUSING DEPARTMENT TO HOST VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

South Orange N.J. [April 12, 2023]- Seton Hall University’s housing and residence life department (HRL) will be hosting a volleyball tournament on April 21st in the Boland Hall volleyball field.

The event is being run by Boland Hall resident assistants Morgan Frye, Arianna Deleon, Ozzie Awa, and Domineeque Andrews. The tournament will include not just a volleyball competition, but also free food and drinks, lawn games, and prizes. The event is open to all Seton Hall students.

Frank DiNozzi, residence coordinator for Boland Hall, talked about how HRL programming such as this helps bring people together.

“Programming for Housing and Residence Life is important because it really brings people together in unique ways,” DiNozzi said. “Having a public volleyball tournament will bring together residents from different halls who may have never met otherwise, which may form new and lasting friendships.”

DiNozzi said that the housing department staff will also be joining in and creating their own team including both resident assistants from various buildings on campus and supervisors higher up in the department. According to DiNozzi, the HRL employee teams will not be in the running for the prizes though they are excited to participate and spend time with the Seton Hall community.

As well, Domineeque Andrews, one of the resident assistants organizing the event talked to us about why she is excited for the event.

“I am so excited to be hosting this event for the residents,” Andrews said. “It will be a great opportunity for them to relax and take a break before the stress of finals.”

  • The deadline to sign up for a team is April 14th and the link/ QR code is on all flyers for the event.
  • Even if not on a team, residents are still welcome to come to the tournament to watch and cheer on the teams.
  • The event will begin at 11:00 AM and end at 1:00 PM.
  • Though the event is held at Boland Hall, Seton Hall students living in any dorm or commuting are welcome to come.

The Seton Hall Housing Department has an emphasis on creating community in Seton Hall and requires all Resident Assistants to create and run four programs or events each semester. Resident assistants can team up to create larger events like the upcoming volleyball tournament in order to better spread community at Seton Hall.
